With most homeowners relying on a home air conditioning system to keep their families comfortable and healthy throughout the long summer season, it’s no surprise that many experience an issue or two. A homeowner can troubleshoot some of these issues.
One of the most common issues homeowners experience with their air conditioning systems is weak airflow. This is often the result of a dirty air filter. Fortunately, it’s an easy fix. All you need to do is remove the old HVAC air filter and replace it with a new one. You should generally change your air filter at least every three months.
AC Constantly Running
While in the dead heat of the hot summer months, it may seem like there’s no such thing as too much air conditioning, that’s not always the case. If your air conditioning system seems to be running non-stop and your home is getting colder than expected, there may be an issue with your thermostat.
Your thermostat may be set to On mode instead of Auto mode. On mode means your cooling system will run constantly, and you’ll have to switch the setting to Auto mode. Auto mode means the unit will kick on when it is warmer in your home than your thermostat set point and will shut down when your house reaches your desired comfort level.
Another issue you may experience with your cooling system is that it cannot adequately cool a specific room in your home. Double-check to ensure that there are AC vents present. If so, one of your vents is likely obstructed. Remove any furniture, curtains, or other objects within three feet of the vent. This should restore proper airflow and allow your system to cool the room.
